6 Ways To Make Your ‘Parent’ Room Feel Luxurious

how to make your parent room feel luxurious

As a parent, sometimes your life can feel far less than glamorous. There are the tedious tasks (laundry, dishes, homemaking). There are the mental load to-dos (organizing, planning, and keeping track of schedules). And then there is the work and play, the relationship building, and the craziness of managing tiny humans and their needs alongside your own.

Parenting is exhausting! And that’s why, for so many of us, our ‘parent’ rooms are far less than pretty.

If you’re anything like me, your room is a disaster area most of the time: haphazard clothes, toys, books, to-do lists, etc. But, if you’re wanting to invest more time in yourself, your partner, and your relaxation, here are six simple ways to make your ‘parent’ room feel more luxurious.

Make It The Ideal Temperature

Having a bedroom that feels ‘just right’ matters more than you think! If it’s too hot, you won’t sleep well because your body will be trying to cool down all night long. And if it’s too cold, then you won’t be able to relax. This isn’t just about your sleeping routine, either. Wind-down activities, daily habits, and alone time are all moments where having a comfortable temperature is important.

It’s also a good to remember not go overboard with air conditioning or heaters, either, especially with respect to your utility bills (and sanity). Make sure to have these items on timers so they aren’t just running full blast while you’re away. Also, if possible, use natural light instead of artificial lights (like lamps) as much as you can. This way, you’ll save energy and create a better ambiance.

Have A Variety Of Bed Items

If you want to make your ‘parent’ room feel more luxurious, then having a variety of soft fabrics at your disposal is a great idea. Whether you’re a picky sleeper or not, multiple blankets, pillows, and sheets will help you feel comfortable (not to mention reduce blanket stealing in the middle of the night!).

It’s also a good idea to be intentional about your bedding choices as far as color and design goes. You’ll want to choose pieces that look like intentional parts of the décor instead of something random thrown together last minute. Be sure that you have enough blankets and sheets for guests, too.

Invest In High-Quality Bathrobes

Good quality bathrobes can make all the difference in comfort in your bedroom.

Bathrobes are perfect for those chilly mornings when you want something soft against your skin before getting dressed. And who doesn’t love a nice warm towel after taking that refreshing shower or relaxing soak? With so many options available today, there’s no excuse not to have one of these items at home.

You might also consider investing in some high-quality bath mats, too, which will ensure safety while showering (because they prevent slips from happening) and just make you feel cozy!

Hang Some Luxurious Curtains

Window treatments are a great way to make your bedroom look and feel more comfortable. If the windows are bare, then it might be time to invest in some sheer curtains or heavier drapes that can help block out light during the day (or early morning hours) as well as provide insulation during colder months.

And, if you’re someone who likes complete darkness while sleeping, blackout curtains are the perfect addition! Not only will they keep unwanted light from coming in, but they’ll also maintain heat throughout winter nights, so you don’t have to crank up the thermostat too high to get a good night’s rest.

Add A Decorative Rug

Rugs are perfect for adding an extra layer of comfort to your bedroom floor. They come in all shapes and sizes, so there’s one out there that would be a perfect fit for your sleeping space! Not only do they make it more comfortable to walk on when you’re barefoot, but comfy rugs also add some personality (and color) to the room.

Invest In A Comfortable Mattress

Last but not least, an essential part of any bedroom is the bed itself!

If you’re not sleeping comfortably on your current mattress, it might be time to invest in a new one. There are so many different types and brands available nowadays that there’s something out there for everyone – regardless of budget or preferred sleep style.

A good quality mattress will help distribute your weight evenly while you’re lying down, which reduces pressure points and results in less tossing and turning throughout the night. And don’t forget about the box spring too. More often than not, the box springs wear out sooner than the mattress does, so replacing both at once will ensure you’re getting optimal comfort from your bed every single night.

There are many ways to make your ‘parent’ room more luxurious —from adding luxurious curtains and rugs to investing in a high-quality mattress —and more! By following these tips, you’ll be able to get the best night’s sleep possible and wake up feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
