5 Ways To Keep Your Carpet Clean With Kids

Marisa Donnelly & happy family

Whether you have a teenager or a toddler, picking up, organizing, and deep cleaning are just part of the normal routine with kids! But, sometimes it feels like no matter how long you spend trying to pick up bedrooms, sort toys and clothes, or get your carpet clean, it goes right back to chaos.

And especially if you have kids and pets. . . then carpets tend to get destroyed rather quickly. So, how can you keep a pristine carpet with all your loved ones and furry friends?

Here are some tips:

1. Vacuum Every Day To Keep Your Carpet Clean

Vacuuming is a chore that most would rather avoid doing. There are, however, other benefits to vacuuming besides the clean carpet you will be left with. The dirt and debris that your vacuum picks up can go right into your garbage, making sure you don’t have to worry about what might be lurking in your trash cans. Ideally, you should vacuum every day, but you can even opt into getting a robot vacuum cleaner.

2. Hire A Service When Necessary

Carpets can be a pricey investment, and you want to make sure that your carpet is always in pristine condition. While you can’t always outsource your cleaning because of budget, time, etc., it is something to consider semi-frequently (or for special occasions).

When you hire professional carpet cleaners, they will use the best technology and techniques in order to provide your home with spotless floors! Whether you have stains that you just struggle to get out of or want a complete refresh, you can learn more about the ins-and-outs with companies.

3. Make A No-Shoes Rule

A ‘no shoes in the house’ rule is something I’ve always lived by. . . but that doesn’t always mean that guests (or my family!) always remembers it.

But, a ‘no shoes rule’ does have benefits! Removing shoes avoids dirt, debris, bugs, and other nasty things from entering your home or your freshly-cleaned carpets. If you’re noticing that dirt is getting tracked in, or your carpets are getting too dirty too fast, implement the rule!

4. Avoid Food & Drinks On Carpeted Areas

Keeping the carpet clean is a lot easier when you avoid messes and spills! For kids and adults alike, consider adding a rule about no food and drinks in carpeted areas. While this may feel strange or strict at first, it really cuts down on your leaning time!

5. Consider A Carpet Overhaul

If your carpet is just too dirty, consider an upgrade! While you can shift to something fancier, you also have other options. . . like tile or vinyl!

There will be times when it will be fully impossible to get a stain out of your carpet, especially if this is a white carpet. So, if you’re open to alternatives, try tile carpet! Although nontraditional (and perhaps even a little weird at first), this can be a great way to instantly remove your stained areas and make your home look as good as new!
