3 Ways To Create A Better Morning Routine

Mornings can be beautiful, with intentional moments around the table or a peaceful start to the day. Or, they can be chaotic and filled with rushing and forgotten items. If you experience mornings like latter all too often, then it’s time to make a change. Incorporate these tips into your morning routine to create a more peaceful start to your day!

Prepare Meals In Advance

Stepping into your family’s kitchen the night before in order to prep and prepare meals can help you achieve success in the morning. Meal prepping goes beyond getting breakfast or your pack-and-go lunch together; this is actually taking the time to prepare weekly menus (you can even use a meal planning calendar)  and items to make your life easier.

Lay Out Clothing

When you wake up and your outfit is already decided for you, it will make your morning go more smoothly than if you have to rush around to find something to wear. (And FYI, this tip is for you just as much as it applies to your children!)

Be proactive and look at the week’s weather forecast along with your schedule the night before. Even better, schedule time on a Sunday evening to prepare clothing for the entire week. Plan your clothing around the weather and your activities. Lay out everything from top to bottom, including:

  • Undergarments
  • Socks or hosiery
  • Shirts & Pants
  • Jewelry and accessories
  • Shoes

If you intend to switch purses or bags, do that the night before, as well, to save time. While you are moving your essentials between bags, take the time to top off lotion or hand sanitizer bottles. Replenish your tissues or gum. Inspect expiration dates on your license and credit cards while you are at it! If you set aside enough time you can even play some music or a favorite podcast while you are getting ready for a productive and successful week.

Consider Hiring Additional Help

When mornings get crazy, sometimes it just makes sense to outsource your needs to others (in your family and out of your family). For example, you can hire a house cleaner to help you catch up so that you can prioritize spending time with family in the morning over doing the dishes and mopping the floors. Or, if you live in a climate where snow is expected, you could consider hiring a professional snow removal company to tackle the problem for you! By outsourcing this job, you will have your driveway, sidewalks, and steps safely and efficiently cleared before you even need to set foot outside your home.

With a little preparation, you can make your mornings calm and enjoyable. Plan, prepare, find help, and sit down with a warm cup of coffee to watch the sun rise. In no time, you can change your morning routine from hectic to peaceful, centered, and intentional.
