7 Kid-Friendly House Plants (That Are Pretty Impossible To Kill)

When it comes to raising kids and plants, sometimes it feels like one or the other survives. (Just kidding 😂). Seriously, though, plants are sometimes difficult to take care of, especially if they require constant care or are at the mercy of children who love being little helpers.

But it is possible to have kid-friendly house plants that are functional, good-looking, and easy to take care of. Here are seven of the best:

1. The Chinese Evergreen

You really can’t overdo the watering with this guy. It comes in many different varieties and it’s very forgiving with water. Plus, it’s full enough to be put anywhere (even a desk) and effortlessly fill the space.

2. The Yucca

Taking care of your yucca plant is simple: just give it sun. You don’t have to water this plant too much, either, which is great if you find yourself forgetting in the day-to-day rush.

Talk about a no-brainer! The air plant grows without dirt! All you need to do is submerge these in water every 1-2 weeks for a few hours. Simple.

4. The Asparagus Fern

Asparagus Fern
This fuzzy-looking plant is a lot more resilient than traditional ferns, which makes it a perfect kid-friendly house plants option. You can put it in brightly lit or dark spaces. As long as the soil stays moist, it will be okay!

5. The Spider Plant

This fast-growing plant can easily be re-sprouted anywhere by uprooting parts of the base and replanting them. As long as this guy has light, he’ll be good. Water weekly.

6. The Aloe Plant

This spiky-leafed plant is great in indirect light and only needs to be watered every 1-2 weeks. It’s one of the best kid-friendly house plants, too, because the leaves have natural healing remedies for ailments!

7. The Philodendron Plant

One of my personal favorites, the Philodendrons are great kid-friendly house plants because they grow best in low-light, low-watered environments. They only need water once per week—super low maintenance!
