4 Health ‘Red Flags’ To Pay Attention To

Unfortunately, one of the habits that becomes all too common with parents is putting off or simply ignoring their health. Why? Perhaps moms and dads think the symptoms will resolve on their own, or they’re simply too busy taking care of everyone else to prioritize themselves. Whatever the case may be, there are a few health ‘red flags’ that you need to take seriously.

Symptoms That Don’t Go Away

If you have symptoms that do not go away in a week or so (depending on the severity, of course), then you need to speak to a doctor. If it’s a cough, the general rule is around three weeks before you contact doctors or ENT specialists in your area. However, other symptoms and issues may need to be seen sooner.

If you have a headache that won’t go away, if you have stomach pains that won’t go away, if you have other symptoms that just stick around no matter what you do. . . then you need to see someone! Symptoms that linger are often an indicator that something isn’t right.

Remember: You wouldn’t ignore your child’s symptoms, so don’t ignore your own!

Symptoms That Worsen To A Dangerous Degree

If you have symptoms that you have been ignoring, but now they are worsening, then you need to seek medical attention right away. And, if the symptoms reach the point of being unbearable, then don’t be afraid to take yourself to Urgent Care of the hospital.

Abnormalities For (Or On) Your Body

When it comes to health there are the obvious symptoms, of course, but a lot of issues can be unseen. In order to truly take care of yourself, you need to be frequently checking in.

Remember, what’s normal for some is not for others, and you need to know your body in order to be able to spot the things that aren’t right. If you notice issues, get in touch with your doctor as soon as you feel it’s necessary. It’s better to be safe than sorry!

As a parent, you’re busy. . . but you should never be so busy that your health is suffering for it! Pay attention to these health ‘red flags,’ and put yourself first.

Remember: You can’t pour from a full cup, so be sure to focus on your needs, first.
